Assignment

Mount a laser diode and receiver with extremely precise positioning tolerances of just a few hundredths of a millimetre and rotational precision in the range of just a few tenths of a degree. The great variance in geometry of the parts and their generous production tolerances have to be taken into account here. It must also be ensured that the receivers are positioned precisely with regard to the focal point of the lens and adhered air tight as well.

Solution

The automation platform uses three Meca500 robots and four smart cameras with telecentric lenses to ensure high-precision measurement of the six degrees of freedom. By using closed-loop feedback control, the robot position is continually monitored and adjusted, thereby minimising errors and maximising productivity.

Thanks to our automated solution, the manufacture and high-precision part alignment of a demanding process is possible. It was not possible manually due to the precision and process stability required. This leads to a significant increase in efficiency and quality in production.
