Development of an assembly line for different actuator product types which enables the assembly of different components into a finished module. Complete quality assurance is an integral part of the process here. The objective is to enable a quick and easy type change between the different product variants.

Solution

Process simulation was used to design the optimal line layout. Assembly of the actuators occurs in three steps. Manual individualisation occurs in steps 1 and 3. In step 2, the actuators are assembled by robots and monitored using vision technology. Monitoring during final testing occurs fully automatically. All test data are continuously archived in an SQL database and are available for further quality management evaluations. One-off production is a reality.

The customer benefits from a hybrid assembly and testing system which perfectly combines operator and machine. Various different product types can now be manufactured efficiently on the same line, which reduces space requirements and costs.
