Assignment

The challenge was to develop and realize a high-precision laser welding system that is capable of efficiently welding different types of steel profiles. The system can process various profile types with different heights and widths up to a length of 6000 mm. A material buffer for system autonomy is also required.

Solution

We have developed a modular laser welding system that fulfills all these requirements. The system includes a preheating station for profiles, inline measurement of the profile heights with a repeat accuracy of a few 0.01 mm and logging of the measured values. The profiles are inserted into the workpiece carriers and welded according to customer specifications. The system consists of a loading unit, a laser cell with the TRUMPF TruFiber P laser and an unloading unit, which work together seamlessly to ensure efficient production.
