Assignment

Development of a modern system to replace an outdated device for welding external and internal circumferential seams on membrane bellows. This high-precision system is operated in a clean room of Class 8 and is capable of welding membranes with varying internal diameters, external diameters and material thicknesses down to the tenth. It also makes it possible to weld bellows of different lengths to meet a variety of requirements.

Solution

Based on the existing system, GRITEC implemented a fully redeveloped system which optimises the capacity of the handling components and allows for the integration of modern sensor-actuator technology. Experience and identified potential from the past were taken into account during development and integrated to improve and automate the settings and stability of the processes. The system software developed by GRITEC enables easier operation and the evaluation of process-related features.

During development of the system, special emphasis was placed on various different aspects: a compact layout, the optimisation of processes, the integration of modern technologies and clean room suitability. This enables the customer to increase autonomy and the stability of the products produced and benefit from improved monitoring thanks to the new system software. Thanks to more modern laser technologies, the customer is also ideally equipped for future products.
