Gritec expands technology center

More space and new jobs in Grüsch

Spatenstich Erweiterungsbau der GRITEC in Grüsch

We are expanding our company headquarters in Grüsch. An extension will be built by the end of 2022, which will significantly increase our company's capacity in the area of Manufacturing Services. Construction work began with the ground-breaking ceremony on November 15, 2021.

Ground-breaking ceremony for the extension with Andreas Zindel, Head of Zindel United, GRITEC Chairman of the Board of Directors Georg Gujan, the Mayor of Grüsch Marco Conzett, Daniel Capaul from the Graubünden Office of Economy and Tourism and architect Jan Büchel (from left).

Our current spatial conditions are not sufficient to cope with the rapidly growing order volume with an expanded team size in the Manufacturing Services division from 2020. The new building considerably expands our possibilities for the realization of mechatronic assemblies, products and systems, from individual items to medium-sized series.

Space for innovative devices and mechanical engineering

The technology center in Grüsch will be around three times larger with the expansion. Around 30 new jobs will be created. The expansion comprises 2,850 square meters of additional space, spread over two floors. There is 1,000 square meters of space for mechanical engineering with an ISO-classified clean room, a further 1,000 square meters are dedicated to series device construction and the remaining 850 square meters are intended for logistics, offices and recreation rooms. A photovoltaic system covering 1,000 square meters will be installed on the roof and a parking garage for employees and guests will be built in the basement. The building meets the MINERGIE-P® energy standard.

A commitment to the location

The Grüsch site has been of central importance to us since 2013. In mid-2019, our two main shareholders Urs Müller and Georg Gujan decided to acquire the adjacent plot of building land from the municipality of Grüsch for a possible expansion of the technology center.

"We are at home in Grüsch and are supported in our expansion plans. Our location is close to the transport axes of the Prättigau and Rhine valleys and is easy to reach for both our customers and our employees. Cooperation with the municipal and cantonal authorities is always very uncomplicated and constructive," emphasizes Georg Gujan, our Chairman of the Board of Directors.

For Daniel Capaul from the Office for Economy and Tourism, the project is an important milestone in Graubünden's development into a technology canton: "The expansion of GRITEC will in turn create new, highly qualified jobs in the technology sector. This greatly strengthens the attractiveness of our working and living location."

Marcel Conzett, Mayor of Grüsch, is also delighted with the expansion: "GRITEC's commitment to the Grüsch location is of course very pleasing. GRITEC is making a valuable contribution to the further development of the municipality, but also to strengthening the region and the canton of Graubünden. We are proud to have such an innovative high-tech company in our municipality."
